Review of Paris, Texas (1984) by Anthony I — 05 Dec 2015
Such a powerful film, but especially in the final 30 minutes. The monologues at the peep booth are what make this movie. Such a beautiful moment. Harry Dean Stanton should've been nominated for an Oscar for his performance.
Dynamically, he shifts from a silent loner, to a fully realized human being, who speaks like a poet to his estranged wife. The cinematography is also very clear and crisp for the time it was released.
I must warn you, there is a bit of lag. It's a slow movie. The reuniting with his son didn't quite hit me as well as it should've. But there is too much to praise. This is Wim Wenders's masterpiece.
