Review of Paris, Texas (1984) by Sarfaraz A — 13 Oct 2012
Paris, Texas written by L.M. Kit Carson and Sam Shepard, directed by Wim Wenders. Starring Harry Dean Stanton, Dean Stockwell, Nastassja Kinski, and Hunter Carson. Music-score was composed by Ry Cooder. Film's aesthetic cinematography was by Robby Müller. This was a co-production between French and West German productions. Film won Golden Palm award at Cannes Film Festival.
Stanton wanders in the desert, he is out to make it with his life with his brother and son (Carson), and most of all to quest his ex-wife.
Film starts slow but with ingredients to hold your attention and interest under its prime target. We become much determined and enthusiasts to find out a true personality behind Stanton's character. He wears the character and keeps himself disguised under the lid. Beautiful and eye-catching bird's-eye-view capture of landscapes make the film superior. The title of film truly demonstrates the substance of plot. Although film may fall short of attracting broader audience, yet it is worth everything.
