Review of Paris, Texas (1984) by Henry F — 14 Apr 2014
Paris, Texas; a simple story, told astoundingly and with absolute perfection.
On a technical level, it's totally masterful. The cinematography is brilliant, you can tell each shot was presented with such careful consideration.
The story, also brilliant, will speak to countless people, it's one that will always stay in my mind. Focusing on love, the loss of it and what effect it has on someone, it's a heartbreaking film that clearly relates to the lives of many people; the last third of which shows cinema at its absolute best. This, along with the brilliant score, thoroughly earns it's title as a classic (a word that is used to describe a lot of films that really don't deserve it) and in my eyes is painfully close to being a masterpiece.
