Review of Paris Je T'aime (2006) by Mark D — 20 May 2011
This unique anthology of short films by some of the industry's best filmmakers and performers is certainly a mixed bag, although the majority of the segments prove successful in their depiction of love, loss and human connection in the beautiful city of Paris.
As is expected, certain shorts prove to be much more effective and thought-provoking than others, with a level of artistry that elevates them above some of the more mediocre offerings. However, in the end the good greatly overshadows the bad, and the stories are so brief that the best ones seem to leave a lasting impression while the worst manage to slip right out of the mind once complete.
Certainly not for everyone, "Paris Je T'Aime" is something of a gem filled with romantic nostalgia and some gorgeous footage of one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
