Review of Paris 36 (2008) by Clayton W — 12 Dec 2009
Paris 36 is basically a less crazy version of Moulin Rouge! The plot hits many of the same points, and the music is integrated into the plot, rather than interrupting the narrative, as in a typical musical.
The sets have a theatrical quality to them which adds a sort of dreamy feel to the proceedings, making the romance and melodrama that much more affecting. Wonderful music, performances, and costumes. An immensely enjoyable French film altogether.
