Review of Paris 36 (2008) by Eric L — 05 Jan 2010
This French movie Faubourg 36 aka Paris 36 is about a vaudeville theatre troupe try to keep their show going inspite of the desperate times they are in amidst the rise of fascists and unemployment in Paris in the 30s.
In reel as in real life the young ingenue starlet Nora Arnezeder as Douche carried the show. In 2009 The movie was nominated in various categories in the César, it won various awards like the Lumiere Award for Most Promising Young Actress (Meilleur espoir féminin) by Nora Arnezeder as well as the toile d'Or for Best composer by Reinhardt Wagner and Best Female Newcomer by Nora Arnezeder.
This movie is like Moulin rouge where love, dreams and hopes strive inspite of the desperation and poignant time.
