Review of Parenthood (1989) by Berni E — 29 Aug 2014
A dysfunctional clan as a plot device is nothing new. In fact, it's old. But no dysfunctional family has ever been so thoughtful, so funny and so powerful, as in director Ron Howard's 124-minute masterpiece, Parenthood.
The script is laugh-out-loud funny and realistic, and the ensemble cast is one of the best ensemble casts in years. A great, affecting, slightly disturbing film. But then again, so is parenthood.
