Review of Paranormal Activity 3 (2011) by Ryan A — 02 Jan 2014

"Surprising" is the first word that comes to mind when I think of Paranormal Activity 3. I'd seen the first two before I popped this one in and to be perfectly honest, I didn't expect much.

The first was an over-hyped snorefest (not an outright horrible movie to be clear, just nothing great) and the second was just awful. Then PA3 came along. Easily the best of the series, PA3 is filled with genuinely frightening set-pieces along with.

.. other stuff. Sure, the acting and script aren't all that great and the ending will most likely leave you cold, but the important parts of a good horror movie are intact. Shit, they're more than intact; they're actually shockingly well put together and have some good build-up/pay-offs.

Bottom line? It's a fun and entertaining horror movie that might actually give you a nightmare or two.
