Review of Paranormal Activity (2007) by Shawn P — 27 Sep 2013

SO I just got back from Paranormal Activity after voting for it to be shown in Ottawa! WOW I can see why some people say it wasn't scary and some think it was really scary! It depends on what actually scares you. The movie will be a different experience for everyone! I personally scare easily when it comes to ghosts, UFO's, and anything paranormal, so basically what I don't see but hear scares me more than what I would actually see if that makes sense LOL. So for example big budget horror movies and ghost movies like House On Haunted Hill and 13 Ghosts had little no no affect on me, A Haunting In Connecticut wasn't too bad, but still nowhere near the same it didn't actually BOTHER me, just made me jump. Give me Paranormal State the television show, Unsolved Mysteries, Blair Witch Project or Paranormal Activity and it hits all the right nerves LOL I was a bit shaken up which hasn't happened in a long time LOL It was just a movie not a real documentary however it was still creepy fact or fiction!!!! I can't imagine watching it at home in the middle of the night I would die, although I know I will buy it on Bluray and scare myself shitless at all ends of the night LOL! I thought the build up for the movie was great! I wasn't bored. Overall I'd give it 4 and a half out of 5 stars! It was well done!! Congrats for making me all on edge during and after the movie.

PLOT: Basically a couple set up a camera in their house because they think it's possessed or haunted by some entity, Katie has a back history of seeing things since a young girl, so she feels it has followed her, over the years her experiences have come and gone going from small incidences happening to extreme. Over the course of a month thing's start happening slowly, creepy footsteps, doors moving, noises, voices, shadows against the door ect. They set up the camera on the dresser all night every night letting it record, the also carry it around the house randomly. It stars out just with Katie explaining her past experiences and her boyfriend Micah wanting to record stuff hoping to catch something on camera. They try the baby powder experiment to try and capture footsteps, bring in a ghost expert and do research to find out whats happening to them. Things get worse over time eventually experiencing things during the daytime. The ending was fairly crazy too.
