Review of Paranormal Activity 2 (2010) by Sam H — 18 May 2014
Over the weekend, I watched Paranormal Activity 2. After all that we had heard about the movie, and as high school students, my friends and I were excited to finally find the time to see it. After it was over, I wished that I could get my 2 hours of my life back. I was not impressed by this movie.
The plot of the movie was subpar. It started off slow, and I expected it to pick up as the movie went on. It did not. It continued to be slow throughout the entire movie. Nothing happened for about the first 20 nights, but the director felt the need to include footage from all of the nights leading up to night 20. Although this was used to build the suspense, I felt like there was too much of that. This slow plot was definitely not helped by the poor acting. Overall, I felt like I was watching an episode of Jersey Shore.
Although the movie is supposed to be known for its scariness, I did not find it to be that scary. I actually found it to be more funny than scary, due to the poor acting and the lack of possibility that it could actually happen. The scariest part of the movie was the fact that I knew that something scary would eventually happen, and thinking to myself, âIs this the part?â? But, when the âscary partâ? actually happened, it was not even scary.
All in all, I was not impressed with this movie. The plot was nothing short of terrible, and was not helped by the poor acting. It was extremely slow, and did not turn out to be too scary at all. I would definitely not recommend this movie to anyone.
