Review of Paranoid Park (2007) by Scott K — 03 Nov 2008
One of my favorite films of the year. I love everything about it. The editing, use of music, cinematography, casting, sound design, script, everything marks a new level of assurance for Gus Van Sant, and should be studied in film schools for years to come.
Combining psychological turmoil, suspense, wit, sensational pop music and visuals, he creates something that is totally satisfying, to me at least. You get a lot of insight into the mind of this character they've created, who I think most people will be able to identify with.
