Review of Paranoid Park (2007) by Matt B — 09 Nov 2008
While it may be hard to have any true emotional involvement with our protagonist, Van Sant delivers a beautiful piece of film making here. That is both visually and stylistically intriguing, as Alex's guilt just adds to his mounted confusion with dealing with divorce, and a girl who seems to want him.
The soundtrack here works and helps push each scene forward, as Van Sant drives home this feeling of disconnection with his audience.
