Review of Paranoid Park (2007) by Grey R — 26 Oct 2009
A realistically cathartic experience. Nevin's narration rarely makes the viewer feel intellectually insulted like many narrations do. In fact, when he reads it, he trips up on words and repeats himself. It's actually a pretty brilliant touch from Van Sant that makes it feel more like Alex is actually reading from a letter than just giving us a glitch free theatrical narration.
The non-linear editing makes the film a bit hard to follow, but by the end, it seemed to have an underlying purpose other than just being trendy.
