Review of Paranoid Park (2007) by Joel C — 15 Apr 2009
A superb depiction of alienated youth, guilt and even self-destruction displayed through dazzling tracking shots and an excellent score. The unknown cast do extremely well, especially the young boy who played Alex which actually adds more realism to the film.
The highlight though are the extreme slow motion tracking shots of skating at Paranoid Park which are very graceful and dreamlike. 'Paranoid Park' is Gus Van Sant's best film to date and one of the best films to be released in 2007.
Outstanding.
