Review of Paradise Road (1997) by Brian S — 26 Aug 2007
Smart, quiet, affecting drama. The only part that makes me mad is that the DVD has what could be my favorite scene missing from the film. Near the end, during one character's funeral, there's a brilliant moment of defiance against the Japanese captors as Glenn Close leads the women into a simple, yet powerful tribute to their dead friend.
It was in the theatrical release and the pay cable version, but NOT the DVD. Grrr...
