Review of Paradise Now (2005) by Angus H — 30 Jul 2007
This is a fine film, well-written. It takes a lot to humanize those who detonate their own bodies to create maximum carnage among innocent civilians, so this part is least successful in my book. But it is a nuanced portrayal that also highlights how they are exploited by their own culture.
There's a great scene where their terrorist contact who organizes the operation is munching on a sandwich while they try repeatedly to videotape a Kalashnikov-toting last message.
