Review of Paper Towns (2015) by Abhinandhan D — 24 Jul 2015
I went into Paper towns not knowing much about the story but I was hyped for the movie as I am a big TFIOS fan. Paper towns surprised me because I thought it would be a romantic drama but it ended up being a really strong coming of age film due to the chemistry between Nat wolf's character and his friends.
The movie is also surprisingly very light hearted and there were a good number of jokes. Cara Delevingne's character is extremely likeable and she definitely is on the path to becoming a star. However the movie fails at being moving and I didn't really care for the message it was trying to convey in the climax.
The movie also has quite a number of unbelievable moments regarding the teenagers and their parents. The first half is definitely the stronger half of the film and on the whole the movie ends up being extremely entertaining.
All in all Paper towns is a well acted coming of age film that works due to the likability of its characters but fails to deliver a moving or deep message. B.
