Review of Paper Towns (2015) by Austin W — 24 Jul 2015
As a fan of the novel of the same name by John Green, I went in to Paper Towns expecting it to be a true adaptation like The Fault In Our Stars. While the movie keeps the basics of the story and the characters the same as its written counterpart, it sends the story in a new direction.
Rather than being a story about a boy who is looking for a girl and discovering that she doesn't know who she is, the movie focuses on the boy (Quentin) and his friends enjoying their last year of high school together.
This is a welcome change, and while some changes (that I won't spoil) that were drastically changed from the book bothered me slightly, I was able to overlook them and enjoy the coming of age take that pulled a few personal heartstrings and made for a truly wonderful experience.
