Review of Paper Towns (2015) by Craig F — 17 Oct 2015
Devoid of chemistry between Delevingne and Wolff, this is the story of a buzzkill on a journey to find the girl he thinks he loves... we've seen it before. It's nothing new and so the first 30 minutes should have been condensed into about 10, especially as the trailer told it all fine in under 3 minutes.
Finally after the hour mark it does pick up, but it's too little, too late. By the time the gang finds our titular paper town, it's so predictable and filled with cliches (such as the hot girl falling for the nerd) that Margo's message is lost in the clutter.
It's a shame, the most developed character in a movie filled with caricatures, gets the least amount of actual screen time. It's expectation versus reality, but it's just not done well.
