Review of Paper Moon (2013) by Scott C — 19 Jul 2008
Sweet & Hilarious! A Classic! 'Paper Moon' is one of my absolute favorite movies of all time. It's very cute and funny and has held up to numerous repeat viewings. This, in my opinion, is Peter Bogdanovich's best film.
..more entertaining than 'The Last Picture Show'. It was ingenious to cast the real-life, father-daughter acting team of Ryan & Tatum O'Neal in this picture. I believe Tatum was 9-years-old when she won the oscar for this one.
It was very well deserved. She carries the film through all its complex comedic and dramatic moments. The late, great Madeline Kahn is also very funny in a small role. Most people today won't give this film a chance, because it's Black and White.
I think they mistakenly feel that it's a film from the 30s or 40s. It's in B&W and set in the 30s, but it is most definitely a product of the modern age of Hollywood (post 1970). I'm sure that anyone who watches it from beginning to end will get a kick out of it.
