If you have a middle school student, this is a terrific way to introduce ideas about learning about prejudice, sacrifice, courage, embracing the stranger, and inner knowledge. It was fun watching the kids grow and learn, but I was more taken with the journey by the teachers and the principal.
Highly recomended to anyone interested in teaching, middle school, modern germany, and I love the married journalist couple who pledged to make it all real for the children of Tennessee.
