Review of Paper Clips (2004) by Nathan H — 06 Jun 2010
Maybe I've grown cynical in my old age, but "Paper Clips"--a documentary about a rural Southern town's high school project to collect a single paper clip for every Holocaust victim--wasn't quite as engrossing as I'd hoped.
The subject sounds interesting, of course, but the movie's entire story was told after the first fifteen minutes. After that point, the film simply spun its wheels, more of a "Holocaust For Beginners" video destined for use in high school classrooms by history teachers who need a day off from lecturing.
Some nice moments, and it's well-meaning, but it's about an hour too long (and it's not even a ninety-minute movie).
