Review of Papa Hemingway in Cuba (2015) by Jim K — 14 May 2016
Papa is the story of a journalist who worked in Miami and Ernest Hemingway to whom he wrote a admirer's letter. It takes place in the turbulent period of Cuban history between 1956, when Castro began his revolt, and 1960, when America ended diplomatic relations.
The film is a complete mess. Characters and their relationship are ill-defined. (Minka Kelly goes from simple colleague to lover in 2 scenes.) Mary (his wife) and Ernest are loving in 1 scene and in the next adversaries.
But I can't complain too harshly since it was free.
