Review of Papa (2018) by Norbert W — 22 Jul 2018
This movie is a "Must Watch"!
The story of a young man searching for his missing past is touching in itself but what makes it special from other "finding birth parent" tales is its parallel tale of the life of people we consider " mentally challenged".
This is so very well displayed in the moving portrayal of 'Papa' by David Proval, who so realistically conveys every emotion of the character. The other residents and support staff of the home create a vivid 3-D image of what goes on.
Our young protagonist asks a very important question, " Can someone mentally challenged still be smart", and the answer that comes through is a definite yes.( Also, the two love birds of the movie are charmers!).
My " Kippah" off to the producers , directors, cast & staff for a wonderful and beautiful tale. I hope that we will see a middle-PG-13 version soon, so that middle and high schoolers can understand what love and care mean.
