The costuming and makeup was astounding, the overall story in real time was pretty basic but not bad, and the fairy tale world was so retarded. I know it was in her imagination and everything but so what, it was just a way for Del toro to show off his amazing visuals, he should of just made a Hellboy 3 instead.
