Review of Pan's Labyrinth (2006) by Dr. F P — 17 Mar 2013
I've owned this for a while now and I thought I better get 'round to seeing it. I'm pleased I did, it's very well made and I love the period setting, which I was a little hesitant about at first.
The monster with the eyeballs in his hands creeped me out! I loved all these little tasks Ofelia had to do as well, they kind of reminded me of stories as a child and old video games. I think the time in history against the fantasy element worked greatly and I was surprised how much of the spanish language I knew! I'd love to see this again, at times it felt like a children's adventure, until all the creepy face slicing and such happens.
That was a good mix as returning to the wonder of being young and then experiencing the pains of the adult world.
