Review of Pan's Labyrinth (2006) by T.j. W — 04 Aug 2013
It's hard to really review this movie. Indeed, the movie is very complex. The story overall is very dark and gritty. The fantasy world that is imagined makes it pretty hard to believe an eleven year old girl would want to live there.
The world has a strange, grotesque faun and even more frightening, a Pale man (zombie/horror villian). Some of the story is hard to follow as are the strange reasons behind the girl is assigned tasks.
The movie is very bloody and not a child-film. Perhaps, I am used to the fantasy films like Harry Potter, Narnia, and Lord of the Rings. This movie however left me with a creepy vibe, as if the fantasy world was not at all the place for a child.
