Review of Pan's Labyrinth (2006) by Daniel H — 30 Dec 2013
What a beautiful beautiful film from the mind of Guillermo Del Toro. This may be one of my favorite foreign language films of all time. Taking place in Spain 5 years after the 1939 Spanish civil war a young girl Ofelia(Ivana Baquero) is thrust into a fantasy world of majesty and splendor.
She becomes enthralled in this world with the help of a faun(Doug Jones) who enlist her to partake in certain task. What great young acting from Ivana. She makes this film so good. The use of CGI is done excellent The final scene with the rebels the center of the Labyrinth and the death of Ofelia and Vidal is done beautifully.
This movie is one of the few foreign language films I have seen 2-3 times. I suggest you go see it so you also can be a witness to a masterpiece of cinema.
