Review of Pan's Labyrinth (2006) by Aaron M — 25 Oct 2014

I can't help but feel this movie is overrated. Its undoubtedly dark and imaginative but the gore and odd creepy monster is not worthy enough to have its acclaim in my books. I found it very slow and had some huge plot holes in what was a very limited 'fantasy' element.

The tension of the captains men against the resistance was far more interesting that what was going on in the little ones head, only sidetracking from where my real interest laid. Artistic it may have been and it is nice to have a dark adult fantasy movie but Pans Labyrinth is a little too far from ticking all the boxes, despite some really gory scenes.
