Review of Pan's Labyrinth (2006) by Hawk _ — 20 Nov 2014
The whole thing wraps you up in the world pretty well. The thing you have to understand and be prepared for is that only a small fraction of the film actually takes place in the titular labyrinth. Most of the film is just a drama about the Spanish Civil War.
It's not a bad story by any means and it will keep you hooked, but it would of been so much better if it spent more time in the fantasy world. I would call this a missed opportunity more than anything.
