Nearly flawless. The storytelling is incredible with bite and horror and magic and beauty. It is a fairy tale after the finest; a story that understands the horror of fantasy as well as the wonder and that understands the thin boundary between a world you do not understand and an explicitly magical one.
It is bleak and not for the faint of heart, but if you can stomach the intensity and devastation of the film, it is an absolutely essential piece of filmcraft and it will touch your heart. Possibly by stabbing it.
