Review of Panic Room (2002) by Josh K — 06 Jun 2013
David Fincher is a superb director. He has a great eye of details, performances, visuals and story. Panic Room, thus, ranks up there as one of his best films. While the film is a home invasion film, it also works against that typical concept, since the invaders are actually looking for money and do not expect anyone to be living in the house.
The occupants, a single mother of a diabetic child, try to outsmart the intruders, while also trying to make it safely. Jodie Foster is superb, while giving a very intense performance, while Kristen Stewart is also perfectly cast as the daughter (mind you, this is before the Twilight days).
Forest Whitaker, Jared Leto and Dwight Yoakam are also perfectly cast as the robbers, with Yoakam especially giving a very dangerous and terrifying performance. The cinematography is also breathtaking, while the action moves at a steady pace.
Definitely worth a look.
