Review of Panic Room (2002) by Zack M — 29 Aug 2010

A shocker and a weird plot to boot. A gripping, tight and probably inprobable film about a bunker room. A panic room in a barely moved into NY house hides millions for 3 robbers and the new owners of this enigmatic property. Also, watch barefoot hostages running all over the place in their newly moved into New York highrise.

Although this summates this interesting film, the core premise is that somebody might have a safe room in their house to start with. This highly unlikely situation makes for a less than credible film, however, with profanity constantly streaming from the actors, it hardly makes a difference. The director must have had a foot fetish, because we get constant shots of bare feet in the film.

If you can get past the extreme profanity in this film, it is worth your time. However, to think that a mom and her know it all 10 year old sick daughter can get through an evening with 3 ruthless killers is beyond comprehension.

I can not say that this is a stupid film or a silly film..... I can say that it kept me watching because we all have experienced threatening situations. The poor fellow who wants to be both villain and good guy gets caught in the end while the other two get killed.

There, I saved you the trouble of watching this engrossing but wild plot of a movie. We just do not NEED the profanity throughout. The plot is gruesome enough without adding in shocking bad taste profanity to boot.
