Review of Panic Room (2002) by Andrew R — 17 Jan 2011
Not every movie needs to break the mold, or be a masterpiece. Some are just meant to be enjoyed, no real concrete lessons involved, and only serve for temporary entertainment. Panic Room is one of those movies.
Its a perfectly adequate thriller, that is heightened by some great direction from David Fincher. The main reason to watch the film is for the beautiful cinematography including one long, extended take that felt like it went on for hours.
The Cast is fine, no performances really shine through as being something amazing, although it should be noted this is one of Kristen Stewarts first films. If I had to pick a favourite I would have to give the nod to Jared Leto he plays an ecstatic thief who provides the most memorable lines in the film.
Other then that however not much can be said about this film. Its perfectly average, and able to suit anyone looking for some mild entertainment on a friday night.
