Review of Panic Room (2002) by Gary C — 30 Apr 2010
I always like movies that have simple ideas that are executed well. This is one of those movies. I'm sure that everyone's been afraid that someone might break into their house at some point or another, and this movie plays on that fear. Most of the camera work is really great and helps convey the feeling being trapped in the confines of a house. Though, some of the camera work was weird just for the sake of being weird. But that wasn't too distracting.
This movie took a good idea and did a good job with it. It was frightening, suspenseful, and pretty intense at times.
**spoiler**.
**spoiler**.
I alway stall for the first line of my spoilers just in case you read it by accident. I was once hit in the face with a golf club (by accident). Though I was not unconscious, there's no chance I would be able to just get up. Maybe the promise of 22 million dollars could get me to move a bit. My point is that I don't buy that at the end, the bad guy could just get up and try to kill Jodie Foster after getting smacked in the face with a damn sledge hammer and falling down one or two stories. I don't care how tough you are, it won't happen. But even so, that scene was still frightening and I liked it.
