Review of Pandorum (2009) by Urmimala R — 08 Dec 2010
I started watching this expecting another version (a poorer one) of Event Horizon. Thankfully it isn't that. There are hints of the various successful sci-fi flicks set in space (the previously-mentioned Event Horizon, Aliens, Lost in Space) but there is still enough character within Pandorum to stand on its own. Although I admit at one point I was asking myself "where is Pandorum's version of Newt?".
I especially liked how one of the main characters turned (no spoilers here) and the action/chase sequences were bloody but with the less(er) visible gore per scene to make it even more sinister.
The creatures are interesting, and one of the proposed theories behind their 'origin' is an interesting concept. I liked how it ended too. Overall it's worth the watch.
