Here is the basic definition of Pandorum according to the movie. Its the Madness that can occur after waking up from a cryogenic (the method used to put the body and mind to sleep by lowering the body temperature, movie theory is you would not age in a cryogenic sleep) sleep. After waking up from a Cryogenic sleep you retain very few memories and over time the memories will come back to you. One person said she was still remembering some of her memories 6 months after waking up.

For someone who has Pandorum he/she does not realize he has Pandorum, he does not understand the difference between reality and fantasy. There is symptoms to Pandorum that someone else might recognize that you have Pandorum yet you may not realize you have Pandorum.

The movie takes place on a ship in the future. Earth is over populated and the resources are stretched thin. Mankind launches a very large ship called the elysium. The Elysium is basically Noah's ark and is on a 123 year voyage to a planet called Tanis(which was discovered years before and considered habitable for mankind) where mankind will populate and start anew. For this voyage many members were put into a cryogenic sleep and would be awaken at the end of the voyage.

The movie starts with Bower (Ben Foster) waking up from a cryogenic sleep. He wakes up with no memories and tries to wake up the other cryogenic a man named LT Payton (Dennis Quaid). About a hour later Payton wakes up and Bower and Payton start piecing things together as they start remembering their pasts. From this point Bower and Payton using the computer system realize the nuclear reactor needs to be reset, so Bower who is the engineer heads out into the ship while Payton stays at the computer. They stay in communication via transmitters.

From this point on the movie turns into a action movie. If you try and make this a story based movie you will be disappointed. As a story in my opinion this movie fails. It's a fun movie to watch if you compare it to a zombie movie. There is these creatures on board that hunt humans as they awake from cryogenics. Bower runs into humans who have individual mindset. For whatever reason(beyond my understanding why) the humans choose not too work together, but when the humans confront another human they fight to get the others resources. These creatures are much faster and stronger than humans so when a creature confronts a human the humans run.

I enjoyed the movie because I took it as a sci fi action/horror flick and did not worry about the story line. The story line had potential but in the end it was more confusing than it was comprehensible.

P.S. The movie is very dark but if you have a nice big TV it should not be a problem.
