Review of Pandora's Promise (2013) by John T — 01 Dec 2013
If you have been a life long opponent of nuclear power for electrical generation Pandora's Promise is a must see movie. It is a reference point that all of the pro nuclear power climate change mitigation people will be using to help articulate why they are FOR nuclear power.
If you don't understand understand the climate change debate around fossil fuel use, this movie will help you gain knowledge on the effort to de-carbonize the electrical grid. If you want to understand the long and difficult road many environmental activists have experienced in changing their thinking on the use of nuclear power, then see this movie.
I am a pro nuclear power environmental activist. I experienced the same change of thinking a few years ago when I started studying nuclear power in an effort to better defeat advanced reactor proponents that have risen to prominence in the last decade.
In trying to get the facts on how dangerous nuclear power was, I learned how safe it actually is. Humans have a 60 year track record with nuclear power, the engineering has improved greatly. Coal, oil and gas are cheaper than solar wind and nuclear but only nuclear power can be scaled up to replace fossil fuels as a carbon free generation source.
Solar and wind will still need gas as a quick back up for night time and slow wind periods. Watch this movie, I promise you'll learn something new. check out the movie website links and learn more and then get active and promote advanced reactor deployment to carry the base load of changing to a fossil free energy economy world wide.
