Review of Pandora's Box (2009) by Darryl C — 26 Mar 2008
It's hard to find superlatives about brooks as an actress. just think of the long list of people that copied her look from melanie griffith in 'something wild' to catherine zeta-jones in 'chicago' to start.
then think on how understated acting would lead the way after the demise of the studio system in america. this is a performance that is so deceptive that it's hard to believe she's working. but she is! she and franz lederer ground the more florid performances from alice roberts for example.
and the last scenes are classic filmmaking. pure and simple.
