Review of Pandora and the Flying Dutchman (1951) by Joel A — 11 May 2015
An unique blend of melodrama & fantasy...a hard to define genre film that is genuinely engrossing through out.
The story of a diary from a 17th Century Dutchman & a strange man that appears on a Spanish island & instantly draws the attention of local beauty played by Ava Gardner.
The history of the man is strangely linked to the diary & the romance itself is quite unusual. The film is shot is the beautiful locations & the use of color is extraordinary...a mesmerizing film.
