Review of Palo Alto (2014) by Mike N — 28 Jul 2014
One of the most frightening coming of age films I've ever seen, mainly because its also one of the most realistic ones too. Straightforward within its depiction of a troubled youth and the consequences of misbehavior, but as well as the isolation of a modern day High School setting, but the message and power of some scenes wouldn't be nearly as effective without the great performances from Jack Kilmer, Nat Wolff, and Emma Roberts.
Pale, bleak, and haunting realism from beginning to end, "Palo Alto" is a great directorial debut from Gia Coppola and one to be appreciated.
