Review of Palo Alto (2014) by Riley E — 25 Nov 2015
Overall, Palo Alto was trying a little too hard to be indie and misunderstood, to the point of - at times - dipping into the dangerous terrority of accidental self parody. It stayed well within the lines of your classic teen film festival movie, and didn't really expand upon or innovate the genre in any way.
That being said, the performances were overall convincing, and the storyline was executed well enough to keep audiences interested. Three stars for a movie that I wanted to like oh so much more than I actually did.
