Review of Palm Springs (2020) by Acroreviews — 15 Aug 2020
Takes a well-worn concept and adds it's own creative spin to it. With surprising and gleeful wit and some brilliantly acted sensitive moments, Milioti and Samberg ace every scene. More than this, the great chemistry between the two leads is only matched by they're great solo performances. They're able to draw you into their personal philosophies in an engaging way which goes hand in hand with the brilliant structuring of the film. The writers time each new reveal to perfection and play off the tropes established by the granddaddy of time-loop movies - Groundhog Day. We understand the individual and conflicting perspectives but it also helps to create quick tonal shifts without undermining itself.
This film really know how to have it's cake and eat it (in a time loopy kind of way).
78/100.
