Review of Palindromes (2005) by Trent W — 13 Jul 2008
This movie is great. Todd Solondz Proves himself as a filmmaker that cares only about his art, and not the acclaim accompanying it with this film. with his other films being scrutinized, and dissected by critics in every imaginable way he instead of catering to them, went even further out there.
The bleak storyline and dialog challenge the viewer, and the fact that the main character is played not by a single person, but by an extremely varied myriad of actors (a feature that critics scolded him for, yet would praise it's use in "I'm not there") in an attempt to prove that the only thing that truly matters to make a good film is the story.
I love Solondz films because he doesn't just hold a mirror up to hollywood's face, he bangs their fucking head into it.
