Review of Palindromes (2005) by Sarah P — 15 Oct 2008
It's a special movie: no less than 7 different actresses (and 1 actor) play the same leading character. The leading character, a young child and later teenager is sometimes black, sometimes white, sometimes thin sometimes obese depending on which actress is portraying her. The reason why this was done is because I think the director wants to make it clear to the viewer that race or gender doesn't matter in this leading character, it's the "inside" that counts here. What happens to this girl may happen to anyone no matter which looks you have.
A movie to reflect upon, a flick with a lot of humour in it as well. Just a little bit of an odd story, a nice trip far away from Hollywood!
