Review of Palindromes (2005) by Evan K — 04 Jul 2009
Gosh, can't really grasp this one. So cluttered and awkwardly built. I love the concept of switching actresses, it works here, smooth and poignant. The theme is tough to chew and isn't foolish enough to try and say one thing or another.
The part with the red truck and gun, yeah, that is the films biggest failure- it sticks out and cuts the film in two. The lack of motivation for the main girl is good, it helps universalize while weakening the message one might foolishly try to gather.
If it confuses and angers you it is probably the fear of resembling things in your life, the things buried and hidden underneath people's facades. Hmm...hmmm. hm.
