Review of Palindromes (2005) by Riley H — 13 Oct 2009
This is a brilliant approach to telling the story of a troubled young girls reaction to an abortion which she was forced into against her will and Todd Solondz does a great job at following her development throughout the entire film. Her obsession with pregnancy is continually challenged by the adults in her life which gives her the strength to rebel against them.
I love this style of using several actors to display the many internal dynamics that individuals posses. I always felt that it can be hit or miss to have children act out adult situations, but this cast does an amazing job at displaying adolescent reflections within mature interactions. All of this plus a perfect soundtrack just blew my mind and left me smiling.
