Review of Palindromes (2005) by Marty L — 24 Dec 2005
A Compelling but Scary watch (in terms of sickness) - and thats coming from me! This movie is about a 13 year old girl who wants to have babies (and she sure knows how to get them!). The first 20 minutes were quite hard to stomach. But then gradually I realised that it was just a very VERY black/bleak comedy on America, Pro-Life Groups and Christianity, and Paedophilia. Here are some choice lines:
[Cops are nearby].
Aviva - "I think I could [pretend to] be your wife.
Earl - No, You wouldnt be legal.".
And.
Aviva's Mom - "Am I a terrible mother?".
Aviva - "Everybody makes mistakes...".
And.
Otto [also 13ish].
"I think I've kind of matured a lot since I last saw you..." (said 3 secs before he drops his pants and starts 'engaging' with Aviva).
Aviva gets played by 8 different actresses which adds to the overall creepiness especially at the end when all of them play her for a little while.
Haunting "la la la la" backing music that is childish in such a WRONG way.
