Similar in theme to 'High Plains Drifter', Eastwood is again the mysterious stranger who comes to the aid of some gold miners, who are being forced off the land by a ruthless businessman and his cohorts.
The grim foreboding atmosphere is present, as is the climactic showdown with the businessman's hired guns. A solid piece of entertainment.
