Review of Pale Rider (1985) by Manuel A — 08 Jul 2010
Saddled in between the outlaw josey wales and unforgiven this one just cannot stand up to them. The set up is essentially a rip off of Shane which isn't a bad thing considering that shane was bad ass, BUT everything else is lacking, The supernatural overtones of the riders arrival aren't explored enough and the mystrious past of the stranger would be much more interesting had the film dropped just a couple of more hints our way ala Unforgiven.
In the end it was a pleasant albeit generic experience.
